Knuffingen Airport

I want a model like this for Christmas! You get caught up in the view when suddenly someone steps onto the taxi way like Gulliver. Very jarring.

Knuffingen Airport

The world’s largest miniature airport has gone on display Hamburg, Germany. Miniatur Wunderland is also home to the world’s largest model railroad landscape.

The model airport is based on Hamburg’s Fuhlsbüttel International airport. It took 7 years and roughly $4.8 million to build and includes 40 planes, 40,000 lights, 15,000 figurines, 500 cars, 10,000 trees, 50 trains, 1000 wagons, 100 signals, 200 switches and 300 buildings.

  1. A lot more variety than watching model trains going around and around in circles. Jets actually taking off, impressive. Taking off into a parting window shade, less so.

Well, they tried RC but the darned planes kept flying off into the wild blue yonder. This way they can recycle them. Leave it to the Germans to create Lilliput with Lufthansa.
